Blog, Blog, Blog

If you have a blog, want a blog or ever thought about a blog …it’s time to go out and get a blog.

You do not have to pay to blog. Unlike setting up a full on website, getting a domain, hosting, ftp etc blogging can be all done on the cheap … well actually it can all be done for nothing other than the most precious thing of all… your time.

You can get a free blog from the folks at Blogger or Wordpress.

If you have been thinking about blogging but not sure if it is going to be an effective internet marketing strategy for you now is the time to take the plunge.

Why?

First of all blogs get indexed by google really quickly…. and don’t we all love google love the best?

Blogs are diverse. You don’t have to, for instance, blog about your niche which might be knitting - you can blog about anything. Blogging about diverse topics is good. Why, because people are different. Even if your visitors are interested in knitting they might also be interested in other things that you do. Some of the very successful blogs really just talk about the bloggers life; the movies they have seen, relationships, where to get the best coffee…

The important thing is that the blogger has built a story and a relationship with his/her visitors. They feel like they know him and just like your favourite tv show you want to tune in and find out what happens next.

And as marketers we know something else…. when people feel that they and trust you …. they are more likely to buy from you and the things that you recommend to them.

This will give you lots of opportunity to promote affiliate products and promote your websites.

Your visitors will be interested in what makes you tick and they will find out little snippets about you by looking at the things that you do in your spare time - like your websites.

Really, what does it matter anyway…you can set up the blog as an experiment and see what sort of traffic you get and whether it is worth your while.

Blogs are part of a greater internet community than a static website. They grow through natural content that you don’t have to deliver ie. your users create content for you by adding their comments. As a bonus, you can easily integrate other items of interest that your visitors might like without them hitting a link and leaving your page by providing rss feeds!

Blogs are so easy to update. There is no hassle with uploading things to the server. You can just log in anywhere and update your Blogger or Wordpress Blog. With my wordpress blog (this is not the free version by the way) I can update the content by mobile phone, email or in the usual way. I do not have to be at my usual computer with my ftp client and other bits and pieces. I could be sitting on the beach with a laptop doing this…

My wordpress blog also has another cool feature. It allows the content to grow naturally. Huh? Well, wordpress allows you to load up all your posts and set the date and time that you would like your content posted! In effect, you could load up a year’s worth of content and sit back and basically do nothing! Now that wouldn’t work with some blog topics ..but you get the idea.

So there’s just a few great reasons to start a blog…. there are more. Whether you use your blog for your own use, as a seperate niche website or to redirect and promote a website through your quickly indexed blog.

Another good reason to get a blog is because you might get a freebie from Mark Joyner - who I really respect. Mark gets my respect for two things: Simpleology and he doesn’t do any of the things in my Top 10 Things That I Hate About Internet Marketers.
At the moment, I’m evaluating a multi-media course on blogging from the folks at Simpleology. For a while, they’re letting you snag it for free if you post about it on your blog.
It covers:

  • The best blogging techniques.
  • How to get traffic to your blog.
  • How to turn your blog into money.

I’ll let you know what I think once I’ve had a chance to check it out. Meanwhile, go grab yours while it’s still free.

I love Mark Joyner and am quite happy to rave about his products. If this course is half as good as the free version of Simpleology (which I have tried and love) you will be well on your way to happy blogging.
